Dog on board – a cute dog on our Cebu Pacific flight

As we were boarding the plane that will take us to Cebu, we were ‘treated’ to the presence of another passenger. One passenger brought his dog with him on the flight. I don’t know what breed this is but it was really cute. One of the flight attendants carried the dog as the passenger placed his bags to the overhead bin.

Sun’s so bright, I guess he had to wear shades.
The cute dog was seated in front of our row. I only learned then that passengers with pets needed to be seated beside the window. That was the protocol mentioned by one of the flight attendants. The owner who was seated along the aisle asked the passenger near the window if she could carry the dog at least for the take-off and landing, and she happily obliged. Who can resist this fur baby?

This was the first time I was on a plane with a passenger who had his/her pet with him/her. Bigger dogs would have to be on carriers and transported as baggage/freight. I know some airlines allow for big dogs to be in the main cabin if they have a ticket and a seat like other (human) passengers. There should be some guidelines for this as to what breeds are allowed including whether the dog has a pleasant temperament.

Cebu Pacific’s leased aircraft from Bulgaria Air

While boarding our plane on the return flight to Manila from Cebu, I noticed that the aircraft was all white and no livery. I learned later that the plane we flew on was a leased aircraft. Cebu Pacific leased A320’s from Bulgaria Air as it expanded its fleet to meet the demand for air travel. Apparently, the agreement included Cebu Pacific also announcing that passengers were flying via Bulgaria Air but operated by Cebu Pacific.

The plane was not a Philippine registered aircraft (RP). Instead, it had LZ on its body. I Googled LZ and learned this was registered in Bulgaria.

The safety instructions were in Cyrillic and English

The sign for the life vest is also in Cyrillic and English.

Here is the plane as we boarded our bus transporting us from the tarmac to NAIA Terminal 3. Other deplaning passengers had to wait for the next bus.

Limited – Inflight meals on Cebu Pacific

My friends and I were just talking about inflight meals prior to boarding our Cebu Pacific flights last week. En route to Zamboanga, we didn’t have to get some refreshments for the typically 1.5-hour flight. There were many choices to eat from at NAIA Terminal 3. However, heading back to Manila on a lunchtime flight, we joked about what could be available on the plane. We all had our experiences of ordering items on their menu for flights scheduled at different times of the day (e.g., red eye, last flight) and it always seems as if the airline didn’t have many if not most of what appears on their menu.

Lucky Me cup noodles and pretzels for lunch

To be fair, the airline offers pre-ordered meals that they do deliver inflight. We got pre-ordered meals for our flights to and from Singapore last year. But not everyone would usually avail of this option and there is real demand for inflight meals even if there were just pastries or quickly prepared (i.e., instant) meals. I don’t remember the last time we were able to avail a meal more decent than the cup noodles shown in the photo. In fact, we were curious about the new items they had in the menu that included champorado (chocolate porridge). That was supposed to be available last December 2019 but so far we haven’t had the chance to have it inflight.
