One of my students casually asked me about the effectiveness of transport strikes. I replied that while the strikes may and can raise awareness of the issues being protested, their effectiveness may have been diminished as people have become insensitive not just to them but to many of the issues we face these days. The latter includes the political mess we have that affects everyone regardless of who you side with.
